Spring has sprung, the NBA playoffs are happening, Major League Baseball has begun, and graduation season is right around the corner.
It is, indeed, the season for renewal, fun, and celebration!
Maybe you’re busy dusting off your outdoor furniture or brightening your indoor accessories. Maybe you’re trading in your coats and boots for your t-shirts and flip-flops.
While it’s likely you’ve given some thought to purging, cleaning, or beautifying what’s around you, have you given any thought to sprucing up what’s inside?
Is there anything about your current mindset or a relationship that can benefit from some fresh attention?
Could a little reminder about the power of forgiveness help you scrub away any self-loathing or re-arrange how you’ve been relating to someone you love?
Consider this wisdom from Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
“Forgiveness gives us the capacity to make a new start. That is the power, the rationale, of confession and forgiveness. It is to say, “I have fallen but I am not going to remain there. Please forgive me.” And forgiveness is the grace by which you enable the other person to get up and get up with dignity, to begin anew. Not to forgive leads to bitterness and hatred, which, just like self-hatred and self-contempt, gnaw away at the vitals of one’s being. Whether hatred is projected out or projected in, it is always corrosive of the human spirit.”
This spring, let’s scrub off the rust left by rumination and grudges and take a chance at new beginnings within and between us.
In love and renewal,
Molly
